YPU 2008 Annual Exhibition

This years Annual Exhibition was held at the North Light Gallery, Armitage Bridge, Huddersfield.The venue was superb and our congratulations go to Holmfirth Camera Club (and all their helpers) who hosted the event.

 

Stocksbridge Works P.S. again had a very good day winning the Jordan Trophy for Projected Images - General with what was believed to be the best overall score for many years of 14.66.

 

Frank Roberts won the Peter Brook Trophy for the best Sport/Action/Photojournalism Projected Image with 'On the Edge'.

 

Also, in Projected Images, John Bailey won two certificates for 'Avocet in Flight' & 'Sanderling'; Kath Barnes won two certificates for 'Alone at the Taj Mahal' & 'San Lorenzo' and Peter Revitt won a certificate for 'Tight Race'

 

In Colour Prints, Frank Roberts won a certificate for 'Courtship Ritual'.

 

Eight of our members submitted entries this year and everyone had work accepted so congratulations to all concerned.

 

Competition with Dearne Valley Camera Club

The Competition was held on the 23rd October 2008 and was judged by Erica Oram, CPAGB. The category for Projected Digital Images was won by Stocksbridge with a score of 172 to Dearne Valley's 158. Kath Barnes scored 20 for her image 'Bathtime'.

 

In Monochrome Prints, Dearne Valley beat us with a score of 167 to our 155.

 

In the Colour Prints category, Stocksbridge scored 169 to Dearne Valley's 152. Marilyn Roberts scored 20 with two prints 'Jetski Freestyle' and 'Old Maria of Havana Vieja'. The overall score meant a win for Stocksbridge with a total of 496 to Dearne Valley's 477.

 

1st Seasonal Competition 2008/2009

Our 1st Seasonal Competition was held on the 10th November and was judged by David Couldwell from Doncaster who did a good job of sorting things out on the night and giving plenty of feedback. There were 38 Prints and 35 Digital Images and it was nice to see so many of our newer members entering for the first time.

 

The Best Print was 'The Old Fish Dock' by Judi Pennock.

In 2nd place was 'Anne Hathaway's Cottage' by Stan Gregory and 3rd place went to Andy Barnes with 'Italian Style'.

 

The Best Digital Image was 'The Genie' by Kath Barnes.

In 2nd place was 'The Angled Angel' by Judi Pennock and 3rd place went to 'Evening Light' by Andy Barnes.

 

DPAGB Success

Frank and Marilyn Roberts were both successful in gaining the PAGB Distinction at the recent adjudication held in Gateshead.
