- 2012 Calendar Competition
A competition was held in association with Look Local for an entry for the first Stocksbridge Photographic Society Calendar. We had almost 100 public entries and most of an excellent standard. We chose 4 in the end for the calendar with the top prize going to Katie York for her shot "Near Langsett Barn". - Seasonal Competition - April 2011
The seasonal competition proved to be a triumph for one man in particular - Pete Revitt who took top honours in both Prints and Digital Images in a keen contest judged by Bill Johnson ARPS DPAGB APAGB - well done Pete. Full results were:-

2011
After a little confusion about the date of this competition, both clubs managed to get a very good set of prints and digital images together and fought a good contest judged by Tony Caunt LRPS. The result in the first round (prints) was Huddersfield 212 Stocksbridge 206. The second round (digital images) was equally close with Huddersfield 205 Stocksbridge 211, making the overall result a TIE - first time that's happened in this two club contest. Stocksbridge Photographic enjoyed success at this years competition held at Greenhill Methodist Church in Sheffield and judged by David Gibbins ARPS APAGB AFIAP. Stocksbridge finished in 2nd place - just one point behind Worksop. Stocksbridge also won Best Picture - with JUDI PENNOCK's DOG SLED image. Very Well Done to Judi, and the other image authors as well as good work by the selection committee. See the results HERE. In the last 3 years Stocksbridge has won the group competition once and come second twice - a great record! A large entry this year saw 120 entries in the normal 3 sections. A very good competition judged by Keith Brown FRPS MPAGB APAGB EFIAP.
COLOUR PRINTS - the winner was JOHN BAILEY with his super print AFRICAN QUEEN. Highly Commended were ANDY BARNES with INDIAN GARAGE and commended prints were JOHN BAILEY with CHEETAH MASAI MARA and ANDY BARNES with LADY AT THE TEMPLE.
MONOCHROME PRINTS - the winner was PETE REVITT with his lovely portrait AMIE. Highly Commended was MARILYN ROBERTS for GOING FOR A DUCK, and Commended was JOHN BAILEY with SPOTTED HYENA.
PROJECTED IMAGES - the winner was KATH BARNES with her super image CAUGHT IN THE RAIN. Highly commended were PETE REVITT with one of the many images of BRIAN and ANDY BARNES with BAMBOO BUTTERFLIES MATING. Commended were MARILYN ROBERTS with PROTESTORS, FRANK ROBERTS with WISTFUL and ANDY HARRIS for BEACH HUTS.

- Wath Salon - Dec 2010
The annual Wath Salon was held again just before Christmas and Stocksbridge had a fair few entries put forward by group members. We are pleased to report that ANDY BARNES received a COMMENDED award for his Digital Projected Image BAMBO BUTTERFLIES MATING. Well done Andy. Also having pictures featured in the exhibition were KATH BARNES with digital projected images ALONE AT THE TAJ MAHAL and DOWN IN THE MOUTH, JANET HOLMES with her colour print THE CHAMP, DAVE WARREN with his mononochrome print ELVIS AIN'T DEAD, and ANDY BARNES with 2 prints VAL D'ORCIA and GREEN BANDED SWALLOWTAIL BUTTERFLY. A really good selection of photos in both the Prints and Projected Image categories saw a good competition well judged by Bob Free CPAGB APAGB. In the Prints section, the winner was PETER REVITT with his print MIS-TIMED TACKLE. There were two 2nd Places with JOHN BAILEY's SPOTTED HYENA WITH PUPPY and PETER REVITT's STILL LIFE. And in 3rd Place was FRANK KENT with SHEAF QUAY.
In the Projected Images Section, the winner was JOHN BAILEY with his delightful NUTHATCH shot. 2nd Place went to PETER REVITT with BRIAN, 3rd Place went to MARILYN ROBERTS with THROUGH THE WATER JUMP. There were two Commended Shots by ANDY HARRIS - HUMBER SUNSET and BEACH HUTS.

2009-2010 Season
- 2nd Seasonal Competition- Apr 2010
A really strong selection of photos in both the Prints and Projected Image categories saw another good seasonal competition well judged by Brian Hemsworth CPAGB. In the Prints section, the winner was PETER REVITT with his super print JAMES BALLIE. There were two 2nd Places with DAVE WARREN''s EMPTY and DAVE WARREN's ROOM WITH A VIEW. And in 3rd Place was ANDY HARRIS with BRODSWORTH. Highly commended was ANDY BARNES with BRIAN, PETER REVITT with GET OUT OF MY WAY, ANDY BARNES with PIAZZA SS ANNUNCIATA FLORENCE and JANET HOLMES with THE CHAMP.
In the Projected Images Section, the winner was ANDY BARNES with his wonderfull BURROWING OWL shot. There were 2nd Places which went to JOHN BAILEY and ANDY BARNES with TWO TAILED PASHA BUTTERFLY. 3rd Place went to JOHN BAILEY with GREY HERON. There were two Highly Commended Shots both by FRANK ROBERTS - GANNETS AT NEST and ALAN RICKARD.

A really good competition took place on Monday 22nd Feb with visiting group Huddersfield Photo Imaging Club. Judged by Brian Hemsworth CPAGB (thanks go to Brian as a late stand-in for original judge Ray Bramall), the competition was good but Stocksbridge emerged the winner in both the digital images and prints section. - Club Annual Competition - 1 Feb

A great selection of images and prints gave the judge, Gerry Padgett LRPS APAGB DPAGB, a tricky task to sort out the winners. He was quoted as saying it was one of the best club competitions he had been asked o judge. There were 4 sections in the competition - two print sections and two digital image sections. In the Colour prints section - the winner was Andy Barnes with his Sri Lankan Woman shot. In the Monochrome prints section, Andy Barnes was again the top prize winner with his Lady at Number 33 shot. In the digital images Beginners section, new this year Brian Collier scooped the top award with his Wind of Change shot and in the Open section the winner was Kath Barnes with her School's Out shot. - Wath Salon - 3 Dec 2009
This year's Wath Salon saw a good selection of submissions from Stocksbridge. David Stubbs did well, receiving two Commendations for his projected images Saprring Polar Bears and Stoke Spitfire. Andy Barnes had 3 prints accepted. Andy Barnes had 1 projected image accepted, Judi Pennock had 3 accepted, Kath Barnes had 3 accepted. Well done all. - Stocksbridge vs Dearne Valley - 2 Nov 2009
The first inter-club competition saw a victory for Stocksbridge over Dearne Valley - with wins in both the digital image and print categories. Top scores were received on images by Kath Barnes, Pete Revitt, Andy Barnes and Marilyn Roberts, and there were also top scores for prints from Andy Barnes (2) and Marilyn Roberts. Judging was performed by Keith Brown FRPS MPAGB EFIAP who kept us all involved with his insights and observations on all the images and prints. - First Seasonal Competition - 26 Oct

A bumper crop of images and prints gave the judge, Tony Elliott APAGB a hard task in sorting out the winners - but he did and chose some great shots. In the Digital Projected Image Section, the winning shot was Schools Out by Kath Barnes, who also took 2nd and 3rd place. In the Prints section, John Bailey took 1st place with his Kittiwake With Young. He also took 2nd place with Andy Barnes taking 3rd place. All the digital projected image entries and winning / commended shots are shown in the competition gallery HERE. The images of the winning prints will be added later.
2008-2009 Season
- Gold Medal Success
Congratulations to Judi Pennock on winning double gold at the Photo2009 Exhibition hosted by the Vale of Evesham Camera Club. Judi had five images accepted and won the PAGB Gold Medal in the Monochrome Section with 'Appleby Fair' and the PAGB Gold Medal in a very strong Natural History Section with her 'Mother and Cub Polar Bears'.
Congratulations also to David Stubbs who had three images accepted - no mean feat out of 2727 entries. All the images can be viewed at www.photo2009.net.

Congratulations to Judi Pennock on gaining the LRPS Award
- PAGB Success
Frank and Marilyn Roberts were both successful in gaining the PAGB Distinction at the recent adjudication held in Gateshead.
- Second Seasonal Competition
2008-2009
Our 2nd Seasonal Competition was held on the 27th April and was judged by David Halstead who did an excellent job of sorting out the winners on the night and giving helpful feedback.
There were 21 prints entered and the winner was 'Trotting' by Judi Pennock. Highly commendeds were awarded to Stan Gregory for 'Packhorse Bridge' & David Stubbs for 'Snailholm Tower'
There were 30 Projected Images and the winner was David Stubbs for 'Horse Washing, Appleby Fair'. Commendeds went to Stephen Murphy for 'Derbyshire Stream' & 'Foxy'; Judi Pennock for 'Arctic Fox with Lunch' & Frank Roberts for 'Over the pole' & 'Halloween Two'

Sheffield Digital Image Knockout Triumph
The Sheffield Photographic Society Digital Image Knockout Competition was held on the 20th March 2009. 22 Clubs entered and Stocksbridge won with a margin of 5 points over their nearest rivals to take the Tom Grounsell Trophy. Congratulations to John Bailey who won the prize for the best image in the competition with his 'Barn Owl Hunting'.

Competition with Huddersfield Photo-Imaging Club
The competition was held on the 18th February 2009 and was judged by Andrew Rothery. In the Colour Prints category, Stocksbridge scored 216 to Huddersfield's 197. Frank Roberts scored 20 with two prints 'Speed Skaters 2' and 'Burrowing Owl'.
The category for Projected Digital Images was also won by Stocksbridge with a score of 215 to Huddersfield's 202. David Stubbs scored 20 for his image 'Bus Stop'.
The overall score meant a win for Stocksbridge with a total of 431 to Huddersfield's 399; an excellent result considering their membership advantage.
